Fantasy Blogosphere: November 22, 2010

A fantastic group of reviews this week, including Shadowmarch, Leviathan, and Nightchild, as well as interviews with Brandon Sanderson, Mercedes Lackey, and more. News on Peter V. Brett’s future novels, as well as a first look at the Game of Thrones HBO series. Cap it all off with a ridiculously awesome map of Westeros, and a trailer for a movie that could potentially rank as my favorite movie of all time.

Fantasy Blogosphere: June 13, 2010

Brandon Sanderson is making the rounds, with The Way of Kings slated for release in August. He’s interviewed at The Dragon Page, Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist and Tor.com over the past few weeks, and The Way of Kings sounds like its going to be a great one. Also reviewed this week is Swords & Dark Magic, an anthology in the classic sword & sorcery genre featuring tales by newer authors like Steven Erickson, Scott Lynch, Joe Abercrombie, and many others you’ll recognize. We’ve found reviews of books by Jim Butcher, Tad Williams, Scott Lynch, Stephen King, and Guy Gavriel Kay among other reviews that hit the fantasy blogosphere recently. Wrapping up this week don’t miss the cover art that was recently released for Scott Lynch’s forthcoming The Republic of Thieves; its a beautiful cover for what is likely to be an equally beautiful novel.

Fantasy Blogosphere: April 18, 2010

We’ve got reviews of Mistborn, The Name of the Wind, and Leviathan this week, along with a great post over at SF Signal that features a great summary of quality sword & sorcery novels. GRRM fans should get ready to have scenes with Dani in the new A Game of Thrones HBO series shine as its rumored that they’re breathing life into the dothraki by creating a language to be used on the show. We’ve also found a few great author blog posts this week, from both Pat Rothfuss and Guy Gavriel Kay. And finally, check out the cool box set of art inspired by Stephen King novels.

Fantasy Blogosphere: December 27, 2009

Reviews of Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson’s latest continue to pop up across the blogosphere, and we feature a few additional reviews this holiday weekend, covering the latest by R.A. Salvatore and Scott Westerfield. Ursula K. Le Guin makes some headlines by denouncing Google’s quest to digitize everything in print, and a couple of promising big budget fantasy films are in store for us in 2010. I get excited for anything from Tim Burton, and his adaptation of Alice in Wonderland looks very promising.

The Gathering Storm turns into a blogosphere hurricane this week, appearing across many different sites in the fantasy blogosphere, and a few outside as well. Supporting the release of Jordan/Sanderson’s latest are reviews of books by Terry Pratchett, Guy Gavriel Kay and Scott Westerfield. Rounding out a full serving of fantasy for your appetite this week are interviews with David Anthony Durham and R.A. Salvatore. Happy Halloween!

Fantasy Blogosphere: October 11, 2009

David Anthony Durham is making the rounds this week, interviewing on both The Dragon Page and If You’re Just Joining Us.  S.L. Farrell’s most recent book, A Magic of Nightfall got a stellar review over at Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist. Scott Westerfield’s Leviathan got a decent amount of publicity this week, and Tor takes 30% off all their books for the rest of the month.

Rounding out the fantasy blogosphere this week is a hilarious article on generic stuff in fantasy novels, and GRRM lets us know that by the time he finishes book five of A Song of Ice and Fire, we’re probably all going to have nanobots swimming around in our bloodstream (read: its gonna be a while).

And, as always…
