Fantasy Blogosphere: November 29, 2010

A fairly calm week, as you would assume with the Thanksgiving holiday. Even with our bellies stuffed with turkey, a batch of interviews crossed the fantasy blogosphere, including chats with Brandon Sanderson, Michael Moorcock, Terry Brooks and others. Check out the Game of Thrones photos – I’m starting to get really excited. Although, I always pictured Tyrion with a roundish head; but hey, you can’t have everything, right?

Amazon’s Top 5 Fantasy Bestsellers, November 28, 2010

Towers of Midnight continues to place first, while World War Z makes a return for the holidays. Breaking Dawn, Side Jobs and Vampire Moon round out the top 5, but the real story here is that during the busiest online shopping weekend of the year, hardcover books have replace what has been overwhelmingly a majority of digital books that have been ranking in Amazon’s top 5 for the past year. This speaks to the notion that when purchasing something for ourselves, we tend to not purchase the upper tier, but when giving a gift, we want to give the best quality gift possible.

  1. Towers of Midnight (Hardcover) by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson
  2. World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War (Hardcover) by Max Brooks
  3. Breaking Dawn (Hardcover) by Stephanie Meyer
  4. Side Jobs: Stories From the Dresden Files (Hardcover) by Jim Butcher
  5. Vampire Moon (Kindle) by J.R. Rain

Fantasy Blogosphere: November 22, 2010

A fantastic group of reviews this week, including Shadowmarch, Leviathan, and Nightchild, as well as interviews with Brandon Sanderson, Mercedes Lackey, and more. News on Peter V. Brett’s future novels, as well as a first look at the Game of Thrones HBO series. Cap it all off with a ridiculously awesome map of Westeros, and a trailer for a movie that could potentially rank as my favorite movie of all time.

Fantasy Blogosphere: November 8, 2010

The embargo on Towers of Midnight reviews has expired, and the reviews are pouring in. In addition to the onslaught of ToM reviews, interviews with Brandon Sanderson are popping up like hotcakes. I never really got on the Wheel of Time bandwagon after reading the first book in the series, but I am about 10% through The Way of Kings, so expect a review of Sanderson’s solo work sometime soon. Also check out the interview with Felicia Day, good stuff.
