Lev Grossman’s The Magician King hit stores this week, and created an appropriate amount of buzz in the blogosphere. While Grossman owned the week, there’s a lot going on overall, from interviews with George R.R. Martin, Peter S. Beagle and Patrick Rothfuss to a great article on the NY Times discussing fantasy’s place in the modern world. Fantasy is mainstream, people. Rejoice.

Fantasy Blogosphere: December 27, 2009

Reviews of Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson’s latest continue to pop up across the blogosphere, and we feature a few additional reviews this holiday weekend, covering the latest by R.A. Salvatore and Scott Westerfield. Ursula K. Le Guin makes some headlines by denouncing Google’s quest to digitize everything in print, and a couple of promising big budget fantasy films are in store for us in 2010. I get excited for anything from Tim Burton, and his adaptation of Alice in Wonderland looks very promising.

Fantasy Blogosphere: July 12, 2009

I first heard about Lamentation by Ken Scholes on the Dragon Page Cover to Cover podcast, where they hailed it as the most anticipated fantasy novel of 2009.  A hefty title to ignore indeed.  On my most recent trip to the States, I tried to locate the novel at a Barnes & Noble, a Borders, and finally at the Logan airport book store.  The clerk at the airport book store looked it up online, and told me the book was not to be released until September.

Lesson learned: don’t trust airport book store clerks who very obviously go to Amazon rather than their own database and find the release of the mass market paperback.  Here are some reviews:
