The cover for Gail Z. Martin’s The Sworn was released this week, and we’ve got a great mix of reviews, from Terry Brooks’ latest to a pair of Adrian Tchaikovsky novels, to the Swords and Dark Magic compilation. We’ve also located an interview with George R.R. Martin’s editor who discusses her work on A Clash of Kings. Topping off this week is our first mention of eReaders in the fantasy blogosphere, and it comes in the form of Ray Kurzweil offering a solution to books that get mangled by current eReader software.

Amazon’s Top 5 Fantasy Bestsellers, April 10, 2010

Dead Witch Walking goes from one to none as Jim Butcher’s Changes moves into the number one slot this week. I’ve got to tell you, it feels good to have one of the fantasy champs back in the top seat. I was reading another blog last week talking about how traditional fantasy seems to have dropped off the Amazon Fantasy list. Its true, and if this urban vampire trend continues for much longer, Amazon should really just create an “Urban Fantasy” category rather than lumping in all these books with girls with tramp stamps on their covers in the Fantasy category. Props to my man Jim Butcher!

Another week of musical chairs, as all five books in the top 5 remain, but Dead Witch Walking trades places with Dead in the Family, and Black Magic Sanction trades off with The Time Traveler’s Wife. Breaking Dawn reaches fifteen weeks in the Amazon Top 5 Fantasy Bestseller list.

Amazon’s Top 5 Fantasy Bestsellers, February 20, 2010

Breaking Dawn reaches fourteen weeks in the top 5, with Dead in the Family and The Time Traveler’s Wife both holding strong. Two new entries in the top 5 this week, both from the same author: Kim Harrison. She may be one to watch.

Is it just me, or are the books I’m reading or excited about reading not anywhere near the top 5? Jim Butcher, Robin Hobb, and Brandon Sanderson are all in the top 25, but the trends recently are overwhelmingly toward vampire and undead books. Show you who’s buying books right now.
